Kittens

We donīt have kitten plans at the moment.

A cat from SphynxGarden will leave home at around 13-16 weeks.
Since every cat is an individual, it is hard to say exactly when they are ready to move out and every kitten stays as long as it takes for them to feel safe and ready.

When you get your cat it is:

  • Vaccinated (2 times)
  • De-wormed (at least 4 times)
  • Microchipped
  • Registered in Finnish cat association and FIFe
  • Veterinary checked and approved
  • Housebroken
  • Used to normal care, nail clipping and bathing

With your cats comes:

  • Official adoption contract
  • Pedigree and veterinarianīs certificates for vacinations and microship
  • Veterinarianīs written statement about kittenīs healthy
  • Copy of the latest HCM (not more than one year old), FELV and FIV test of the kitten’s parents
  • "Kitten packet" (included toys, food and blanket smelling of the mother)
  • CD with pictures of the kitten
  • Folder with information about the Sphynx as well as advice and tips about food itīs used to and how to take care of the kitten
  • Our exports also get a rabies shot when necessary as well as a pet passport

All our adopted kittens will have our assistance and support during all their live.
All our kittens are sold as pets ( = they have to be spayed/neutered before 10 months).
Kittens (without breeding rights) are cost around 1200e depending of the individual. We rarely sell kittens for breeding and then only to registered catteries and with contracts that include restrictions.

NOTICE!

Purebred cat has always a pedigree ( =is registered). If you want a cat with Sphynxīs character and appearance, donīt settle for any less - make sure that your kitten is registered! Kitten without a pedigree can be totally something else than the buyer claims. Non-registered kittens can be also stolen!! The Sphynxīs gorgeous appearence and wonderful personality are the result of responsible long-span breeding work. Without that also all the typical features of the Sphynx breed vanish. Responsible breeding work doesnīt involve kittens born by mistake and 20 euros is not a barrier to register a kitten (Finnish cat associationīs price for pedigree in 2011).

Donīt buy kittens without pedigree - Don`t support kitten mills, stop animal cruelty!

Donīt buy kittens, whoīs parents are not HCM-heartscanned to normal within one year. Ask always a copy of the parentīs latest HCM results. Kittens from non-scanned parents are sold in Finland for the same price as kittens from scanned parents. Demand value for your money!! Favor ethic breeding! Regular heart scanning prevents that sick catīs are not used in breeding. That way the heritable form of HCM doesnīt transfer to kittens and following generations.

Cats, like any other living creatures, are carrying inheritable sicknesses in their genes. Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is one of the common catīs heart disease. It occurs in every cat breed and also amongst housecats. The disease is serious, incurable and it will kill the cat eventually. HCM and other heritageable diseases are and will be part of the cat population. Uncontrolled diseases can destroy a small breed of cats like the Sphynx. Breeders` responsibility, openness to health issues and catsīregular health examinations helps controlling the diseases.
